Aerospace Wiring Looms

Our capability covers a wide range including aircraft looms and Aerospace wiring harnesses.  We are manufacturing aircraft looms for BAE systems Salmesbury for use in the Typhoon Project. At present this is scheduled to run until 2015. Also our manufacturing of the tactical offload package for BAE Systems Brough in their production of AJT aircraft is currently ahead of schedule.

Also manufactured are RF and microwave flexible and semi-rigid assemblies, extendable cable assemblies, cable harnesses to suit EMC sensitive situations with overall knitted braid screening, high temperature conduit assemblies, inter-vehicle harnesses and many types of injection moulded connector assemblies.

In House UV Laser Wire Marking

Laser wire identity marking of wires and cables by UV Laser is now accepted as the new aerospace industry standard, being a safe, permanent, non aggressive method of directly marking a large range of the latest high performance grades of insulation material.

Rockford Components have two Capris 60 Laser Wire Marking Machines, expanding our 'Aerospace' capability to include the marking of aircraft wires and laser marked wiring harnesses in both upper and lower case script.

Spectrum Laser Wire Marking (Spectrum Technologies Capris 60) machines are used, meeting the requirements of Mil-W-5088L / A55081 and as approved by major airframe manufacturers including Boeing & Airbus. This process has superseded hot foil, offset ink and pre-marked identity sleeves as the preferred method of identifying wires and cables. The full alphanumeric range is available, including lower case and individual wires can also be marked at intervals over the entire length to speed production, fault finding & repair maintenance.

Braiding

We have 2x 16 carrier, 2x 24 carrier and 1x 48 carrier braiding machines that enable us to braid cables from 3mm upwards.

Braid knitting on our 16, 24 and 48 spool machines, giving 100% screening on cable assemblies and wiring looms, ideal for EMC and Tempest sensitive situations. Assemblies can also be covered with a Nomex fire retardant protection.
