Cable Assemblies

Rockford Components Ltd. have been manufacturing cable assemblies and wiring harnesses for mainly military applications for the MoD (Ministry of Defence) direct and for many major O.E.M's such as BAe Systems (Aircraft Group), Serco Defence, Lockheed Martin, & the Thales Group. 

Our capability covers a wide range including connector assemblies, aircraft wiring looms, military cable assemblies and military, vehicle and missile wiring harnesses. 

Also manufactured are RF and microwave flexible and semi-rigid assemblies, extendable cable assemblies, inter-vehicle harnesses and many types of injection moulded connector assemblies.

             Electrical Testing

Full automated electrical testing of cable assemblies is available, utilising ATE that can either learn from a pre-tested harness, or can be programmed with interconnection data.  Tests covered include insulation resistance, Flash testing to 5KV, resistance / capacitance and continuity / impedance.  Print-out data is recorded to suit customers requirements.

Pull tests and milli-volt drop test equipment for crimped joints, and force gauges are used for testing contact retention.
 

RF & microwave assemblies can be tested for phase sensitive situations using network analysers, and VSWR testing is carried out on site.  Phase Matching, VSWR and insertion losses of coaxial cable assemblies are calculated using the latest network analysers. 

Rockford Components Ltd. have recently purchased three Automeg 4 Testersfrom MK Ltd.  The Automeg is a computer controlled four terminal (Kelvin),continuity resistance tester with the capability for high voltage insulation testing. Other automated test equipment from DITMCO and Muirhead Addison are used to ensure high standards of quality are maintained,backed by our ISO9001 approved inspection organisation.

Environmental testing and "burn in" cycles are carried out in our environmental chambers testing between

-85°C to +150°C.

Pressure testing of sealed cable assemblies can be carried out at Rendlesham.
