Rockford’s Strategic Review
Rockford has been undertaking a review of its current UK cable assembly and wire harness manufacturing footprint, this is to ensure that we stay competitive in the current difficult market conditions. At present we are manufacturing product over four UK sites with over 200 personnel, and following this review it has been shown that we are not currently utilising our sites as economically as we could. It is therefore regrettable that we have had to announce the closure of our Newcastle under Lyme site.
The work currently manufactured at our Newcastle under Lyme site will be split between our Suffolk Corporate Headquarters and our Worksop & Salisbury satellite manufacturing sites. We will cease production at the Newcastle under Lyme site in May 2014, with a completion of the transfer of knowledge also by this date.
Many of the key members of staff are relocating to our Worksop site to ensure the smooth transition of work and the continued high level of service that our customers have come expect from us. Our Suffolk and Worksop sites are ideally suited for further expansion as they do not have the space constraints that we have had at our Newcastle under Lyme site. We will continue to recruit at our other sites so that our manufacturing capability does not decrease. This move has been taken to ensure that our overhead costs are as competitive as possible and that we continue to be the market leader in these turbulent economic times.
If you have any questions regarding the site closure please contact us.
